Women in Wetlands Section Blog 9/23/11

By: Beth Middleton -- Welcome to the Women in Wetlands Blog!

Our section is dedicated to issues of concern for scientists that do not have to do with science. These issues concern all in the profession including men and women.

In the four years since for the formation of our section, the various section chairs have organized activities to help us focus on these issues (past chairs: Karen McKee, Donna Ball, Julia Cherry). The sections have made a big difference for some of us, because the sections focus on topics of interest to wetland professionals.

As for Women in Wetlands, the section breakfast at the annual meeting has been my favorite activity. I have enjoyed the inspirational speakers and the networking. Our section symposia have explored professional development, e.g., writing, speaking, life skills, and work balance. We have a mentoring program in which established professionals coach students and new professionals.

And now we have this blog, which we can use to share ideas. So, please use the blog.
