Student Conference Travel Award

The South Atlantic Chapter provides at least one travel award of $500 to support a graduate student(s) presenting at the Annual SWS Meeting/Conference. Student awardees can be enrolled in either a public or private university located within the South Atlantic Chapter's region.

* As the conference host, the South Atlantic Chapter also helped USGS support 14 students from across the country to attend the Charleston meeting as well as helped fund several minority students for a 1 day attendance.

2004 Seattle Travel Award Winners:

• Monica Palta, University of Georgia - Assessing response in diameter growth of bald cypress (Taxodium distichum (L.) Rich) to an altered flow regime.
