The Chapter will often find it beneficial to partner with other similar wetland professional organizations for annual workshops, conferences, training events, and/or field trips. Such an arrangement will often provide the Chapter with a local point of contact for securing workshop logistics (conference facilities, meals, etc.). Also, a local organization may provide enhanced opportunities to attract local wetland professionals to the event.
The Chapter hereby establishes these operating procedures for funding workshops in the event that a co-organizing local group has been identified. To maximize the benefits of an annual event for its members, the Chapter’s goal will be to enhance the quality of the event by supporting speaker travel expenses, or a large portion thereof.
The Chapter will agree to pay for any costs. Conversely, if an event results in excess revenue, the Chapter and partnering organization(s) will evenly divide the profit. The Chapter may, in advance of the event, renegotiate this arrangement with the partnering organization should circumstances warrant.
Additionally, the Chapter and local, partnering organization will agree to a cap on speaker travel expenses. The Chapter will require that registration fees be set so as to cover workshop expenses but also attract a large number of participants.
These operating procedures will be referenced in the Chapter Standing Rules and may be revised as necessary by the Executive Committee with input from Chapter members.
