16) Abstract Title:
Monitoring success at a TRIMET wetland mitigation site.
17) Abstract Text:
On site monitoring of a mitigated wetland for the Westside Light Rail
Project for the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon
(TRI-MET) began during the fall, 1997. I have monitored the following
parameters; 1. Vegetation survival and succession, 2. Hydrology and water
quality protection, 3.Soil development, and 4.Wildlife habitat
enhancement. Vegetative success has been dependent upon several factors
including flooding, human disturbance, nutria, and beaver activity. Enhanced
habitat has increased waterfowl, wading bird, and passerine bird use. This
poster summarizes the above and makes recommendations for future monitoring
and habitat enhancement activities.
