June 24-26, 2009

The Alaska District Corps of Engineers will be providing a no-tuition 3-day beginners wetland delineation training course June 24-26, 2009, in Anchorage. The class will be held in the training room at the Municipality of Anchorage's Planning and Development Center, located at 4700 Elmore Road. The course will last 3 full days. The class is limited to 25-30 students. Please send an e-mail to Don Kuhle at don.p.kuhle@usace.army.mil for more information about the course.

SWS Sponsored Alaska Grass Identification Workshops

Do you know or want to know your Alaska grasses? Now is the opportunity to learn the more common grasses in your area. Two, 3-day short courses will be taught: one in Palmer (August 8, 10, and 11th), and one in Fairbanks (August 13,14, and 15th) covering the basics of identifying grasses. Professor Emeritus Quentin Skinner who taught Grass Taxonomy over 25 years will guide you through the following information as he and others continue to develop a new book, Field Guide to Alaska Grasses.
