The 19th Annual Meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists (SWS) will be held June 8-12, 1998 at the Egan Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska. The theme of this years meeting is Alaska s Wetlands, from the Tundra to the Sea. It will offer attendees the rare opportunity to experience first hand, the vast wetlands that make Alaska so unique. The program committee expects an estimated 350 scientists, engineers, and other attendees working in the fields of wetlands creation, research, restoration, regulation, management, and consulting from the United States and other countries. We invite your organization to both participate in and/or or be an exhibitor at our 1998 meeting.
SWS currently has more than 4,000 active members, and represents a diverse group of professionals from interdisciplinary backgrounds of engineering, wet soils, geology, hydrology, forestry, and all fields of biological sciences. Members are employed by local, state, and federal agencies, universities, and other schools, consulting firms, industry, and private conservation organizations.
Exhibits from government offices, universities with wetland-related curricula and centers, book publishers and distributors, industry suppliers of wetland construction materials, and field and laboratory equipment suppliers are among past meeting exhibitors. Their exhibits have proven to be popular among attendees.
You will be able to begin exhibitor booth set-up Sunday afternoon, June 7. The Egan Convention Center is spacious, and well located with regard to other meeting activities. Exhibitors, posters and social activities will be set up in an arrangement that will feature the special nature of each. This will assure you that attendees will have ample opportunity to see your exhibit throughout the meeting. Because Egan Center does not receive shipments directly, please contact Brian Becker of Logistics INC. in Anchorage at 907 276-6060 for freight forwarding instructions. Additional meeting information can be found on the SWS web page at (www.sws.org) and choose the Anchorage meeting link.
