With a population of 1.5 million, Sacramento is one of the West's fastest growing cities. Located in the heart of California and also its state capitol, Sacramento offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the diversity of California. Visitors can experience the state’s past in Old Sacramento, a 28-acre town of historic buildings, museums, and monuments adjacent to the Sacramento River. The State Capitol and surrounding facilities are adjacent to the Convention Center. Other City attractions include world-class shopping, restaurants, over 40 art galleries, and dozens of museums. The California State Railroad Museum, the California State History Museum, and the Crocker Art Museum are within a mile of the Convention Center. In addition, the surrounding area provides a wealth of open space and recreational opportunities for attendees and their families. San Francisco Bay, Napa and Sonoma Valley Wine Regions, and Lake Tahoe are all within a 1- to 1.5 -hour drive from the conference center.
