• Historical Walking
Tours
A one hour tour led by a costumed docent leaves every Saturday, Sunday and
Wednesday at 11am from Old Sacramento Visitors Center. Guests to Old Sacramento
may meet at the Visitors Center, 1002 Second Street to sign up for tours.
Adults are $7, $5 for over 60 and under 12 years. Please call 916/442-7644

• California Gold
Country Tour
Harmonious Travel in Sacramento offers customized day trips to the Gold
Country, local wineries, Sacramento Delta boat tours, and even Yosemite.

at least 2 weeks in advance.
• Marshall Gold
Discovery State Historic Park
Located on Highway 49 in the historic town of Coloma, this state park marks
James Marshall’s 1848 discovery of gold. The park is home to a museum,
many historic buildings, and hiking trails. Visitors have the opportunity
to pan for gold in the adjacent American River and to attend interpretive
programs related to the California Gold Rush. Call 530/622-3470 for more

by calling 866/240-4655. The park is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.

• Effie Yeaw Nature
Center Tour
The Effie Yeaw Nature Center, located along the American River in Carmichael,
is part of the Sacramento Regional Parks system. The Center provides a variety
of programs for children and adults including the exhibit “Wild about
Wetlands,” which is running through the month of June 2007. Outside
the Center, visitors can explore interpretive trails and a replica of a
Maidu Indian summer village. Group tours can be arranged 1 week in advance

below are sponsored by the local bike club, Sacramento Bike Hikers. The
following group rides are scheduled during the SWS Conference:

• Bats in the Bypass
On Thursday, June 14th, join the Yolo Basin Foundation for an evening with
bats. The program starts at 6:45 pm at the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area Headquarters.
Attendees will be treated to a presentation followed by a guided tour into
the Wildlife Area to see one of the largest bat colonies in California.
A $5.00 donation is suggested from all trip participants (excluding children
under 12). Children are welcome on all trips. For more information call

• California State Railroad Museum
Visit the California State Railroad Museum. Exhibits cover a wide range
of topics, from social issues (such as women’s role in the railroad
workplace) to displays of railroad artwork intended to promote California
and the West as a tourism destination. Visitors can go for a ride on Steam
Powered Excursion Trains (weekends), view sculpture created from railroad
spikes and other tools, and take guided group or self-guided tours through
the museum. The California State Railroad Museum is located at the corner
of Second and “I” Streets in Old Sacramento. For more information

• Crocker Art Museum
Spanning the 10th century to contemporary periods, the Crocker Art Museum
collection includes works from Europe, North America and Asia. Established
in 1885, the museum is the primary resource for the study and appreciation
of fine arts in the Sacramento region, offering a regular schedule of touring
exhibitions, educational programming, public tours, concerts and a museum
