Sponsorship Information

As host of the 29th annual meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of SWS extends an invitation to companies, agencies, organizations, and individuals to become a meeting sponsor.

The annual meeting theme, Capitalizing on Wetlands, highlights the need for meshing the breadth of wet-land science, encompassing biogeography, conservation, ecology, hydrology, nutrient cycling and contamination, and wildlife biology, with economics, public policy, and education. Wetland functions and values confer upon them capital. Understanding and communicating the nature of this capital will be critical in making decisions at local to global levels regarding the management, protection, and fate of the world’s wetlands.

We anticipate outstanding attendance at this meeting because of the quality of scientific, management, and policy sessions being planned and the diverse wetland, cultural, and entertainment opportunities the city and region have to offer. The Washington DC area is home to several federal agencies with wetland-related mandates and responsibilities, as well as many not-for-profit organizations with interests in wetland conservation, management, and protection. The Association of State Wetland Managers and the Society for Ecological Restoration will be joining with us to bring these agencies and organizations together for this important meeting in the nation’s capitol in an election year.

How Sponsorships Benefit SWS: Sponsorship is critical to offering a high quality conference at a reasonable cost. SWS is a society comprised of academic researchers, including students, government scientists, private sector consultants, and wetland practitioners who make decisions about wetland use, protection, and conservation. As always, a goal of the SWS annual meeting is to foster scientific exchanges between diverse groups of professionals involved in wetland stewardship. Recognizing the diverse nature of potential sponsors, we invite you to consider either general sponsorship or sponsorship targeted toward specific activities that are key to making the 2008 SWS annual meeting a success.

How Sponsorship Benefits You: Sponsorship offers an effective way of demonstrating your interest in and commitment to wetland science and its implications for wetland policy and management. We will recognize and acknowledge the generosity of all of our sponsors on the annual meeting website (www.sws.org/2008_meeting/) and in the meeting program (to be available in print and on-line. We offer several levels of sponsorship, with enhanced recognition and visibility as the level of sponsorship increases. Of course, SWS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so your sponsorship contribution to the SWS 29th annual meeting is tax deductible.
