MEETING VENUE

The 29th Annual Meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists will be held at the
Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, a Washington, D.C. landmark with a rich history (see The InTowner Newspaper's series "Scenes from the Past...": http://www.washingtonhistory.com/ScenesPast/images/SP_0303.pdf).

The hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the Washington D.C. Metro, Woodley Park/Adams Morgan station (Red Line), and is an easy Metro ride from Reagan National Airport or Amtrak's Union Station.  Of course, the Metro provides accessibility to the wealth of cultural activities and sites within the greater Washington D.C. area.

We realize that some SWS Annual Meeting attendees and their families may wish to spend Memorial Day weekend in the Washington D.C. area.  We have arranged for the meeting room rate to be available from Friday, 23 May through Saturday, 31 May.  These rooms are limited in number, so make your reservations as soon as possible!

Memorial Day Weekend in the Washington DC area

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May.  It was formerly known as Decoration Day.  This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country.  It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War.  After World War I, it was expanded to include those who died in any war or military action.
